Innolux Constructing Gen8.6 LCD Factory… Mass Produce 50 inch, 100 inch TV Panel

On 26 June, Digitimes reported that Innolux, TFT-LCD panel company, is constructing the world’s first Gen8.6 LCD factory in Taiwan. Quoting the company’s associate vice president Hung Mao-sheng, Digitimes reported that Innolux will begin installation in June and could start mass production by the end of 2016.

The monthly capacity of the factory is to be 50,000 glass substrates, and expected to mass to produce TV panel for 50 inch, 58 inch, 100 inch as well as 45 inch and 23.6 inch. Hung described this company as the largest supplier of 23.6 inch and 40 inch TV panel at present.

As the average size of LCD TV is increasing, Innolux decided on the factory to maintain competitiveness and respond to market demand. It is organized into three businesses, mobile products, TV products and AII ( automotive, IT, industrial and special-use products such as medical and aviation ).

In January 2015, this company reduced its total number of employees to 68,000 from 98,000. The number of employees at LCD module production line decreased to 42,000 from 70,000,

TFT-LCD 패널 업체인 이노룩스( innolux )가 업계 최초로 8.6세대 LCD 공장을 대만에 구축하고 있다고 디지타임즈가 27일 보도했다. 디지타임즈는 이 회사의 부사장인 Hung Mao-sheng를 인용해 “이노룩스가 6월에 설비 구축을 시작하고 이르면 올해 연말부터 패널 양산에 들어갈 예정”이라고 했다.

이 공장은 월간 5만장 규모의 유리기판 생산 능력(캐파)를 갖추게 되며 45인치와 23.6인치 뿐 아니라 50인치, 58인치, 100인치 TV용 패널을 양산할 예정이다. Hung 부사장은 “이노룩스는 현재 전세계에서 가장 규모가 큰 23.6인치와 40인치 TV 패널 공급사”라고 말했다.

이노룩스는 LCD TV의 평균 사이즈가 증가함에 따라 이같이 결정했다. 시장 수요에 빠르게 대응하고 경쟁력을 유지하기 위해서다. 이 회사는 TV, 모바일, AII(자동차, IT, 의료 등 전문 분야)의 세 부문으로 사업을 운영하고 있다.

한편 이 회사는 생산 자동화를 지속해 직원의 수를 9만8천명에서 지난해 1월 6만8천명으로 줄였다. 현재 LCD 모듈 생산 라인의 직원 수는 기존 7만명에서 4만2천명으로 줄었다.
